The METROFOOD-EPI project successfully concluded its activities with a Final Consortium Assembly on December 12 and an Open Event held on December 13, in Rome, Italy.
The Open Event, titled “Empowering Services to Tackle Agrifood Challenges: The Way We Cultivate Tomorrow’s Solutions” focused on the pivotal role of Research Infrastructures in supporting the agrifood sector’s transformation towards sustainability and competitiveness.
Key highlights from the event included:
1️⃣ Innovative Projects & Initiatives: Presentations showcased significant projects and initiatives designed to drive innovation within the agrifood sector.
2️⃣ Progress in the Past Year: The advancements achieved by METROFOOD-EPI over the past 12 months were reviewed, demonstrating the project’s commitment to enhancing research and collaboration in the agrifood industry.
3️⃣ Innovative Services for Stakeholders: A comprehensive overview of the innovative services offered by METROFOOD-RI to stakeholders in the agrifood sector was provided, highlighting solutions that support food innovation.
4️⃣ Concrete Success Stories: Attendees learned about specific scientific projects that have been successfully realized through the utilization of METROFOOD facilities, underscoring the infrastructure’s impact on advancing agrifood research.
5️⃣ Young Researchers’ Contributions: Nine emerging researchers affiliated with METROFOOD shared insights and presented their research projects, reflecting the initiative’s dedication to fostering new talent in the field.
The event also featured discussions on the importance of FAIR data, repositories, and nodes in advancing open science, with contributions from the EGI Foundation.
